The Simplest Way To Start With Car2Go In Vancouver BC

What's Car2Go?

This project came from southern Germany, where it was introduced in March 2009 in the town of Ulm. The successfulness of the German project also impressed Austin, Texas, which introduced Car2Go just a couple of months later on.

The Car2Go system consists of a fleet of Smart Fortwo autos parked all over the town. After registration, you may either walk straight up to the auto or reserve it to one day ahead. Once you're in the car, you can use it as long as you need and return it at any sanctioned Car2Go parking spot. Per-minute rates include everything — even parking!

Signing up As a member

The first thing you have to do is complete the registration. You can do this on the Car2Go web page. Registration is really easy and fast. There's a one off signup charge of $35 that may simply be charged when your membership is authorized by Car2go, and for drivers to be suitable for ICBC’s special auto sharing insurance, a once a year fee of $2 will be charged. You will also need to enter your valid driver’s license number and valid Visa or Mastercard number. You will also be asked to call ICBC Driver Licensing (1.800.950.1498) to request that your drivers abstract be despatched to Car2Go secure e-mail at records[at]car2go.com. After you're approved, you’ll receive a member’s card in the mail. It often takes about 5 days.

There's also an opportunity to register in person; you simply need to go to the Car2Go Vancouver shop. Be sure to bring your valid driver’s license and a kosher Visa or Mastercard with you.

Undecided who can register? A member-to-be must have three or more years of driving experience. (This indicates that the learners permit is out of the question , although N drivers are authorized.) You must have a drivers abstract in good standing with no alcohol or drug prohibitions.
